Rodarte

Since their stellar debut, which received critical and commercial acclaim, Kate and Laura Mulleavy have been under constant critical scrutiny. The label’s salvage beauty, mix of fabrics, and raw grace sometimes took too much of a vintage turn and left clients and commentators wanting a fresher signature. But judging from the Rodarte Spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection, the Mulleavys are not ones to compromise.

Founders: Kate and Laura Mulleavy

Owner: Rodarte, Llc

Designers: Kate and Laura Mulleavy

Year Established: 2005

Spring 2016 Inspiration: English poets Elizabeth Barrett Browning and Emily Dickinson.

Star Pieces: The embroidered tulle, lace, and crochet mini dresses with illusion necklines will make a gorgeous addition to any stylish wardrobe.

The Middle Eastern Sale: A purple sequined pantsuit with an accompanying seventies’ scarf.

Drawback: This collection could have been the official Rodarte return with a series of incredibly enviable pieces, but the styling and some of the more vintage-looking outfits appeared too costume-ish.
