Rihanna is known for her provocative attitude—from good-girl-next-door to bad-girl-gone-wild. She recently caused even more ink to flow, with a photographed appearance in front of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, in Abu Dhabi.
Rihanna arrived in the UAE to give a concert on October 19th, at the Arena on Yas Island, celebrating her seventh studio album, Unapologetic. Shortly before her concert, after having fun with her tour crew in Yas Waterworld Abu Dhabi, Rihanna posed for the now headline-making photoshoot, in front of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. The pictures are part of the singer’s upcoming photobook, a project initiated by celebrity photographers, Steven Gomillion and Dennis Leupold, who follow and photograph Rihanna throughout her Diamond World Tour.
Posing in an all-black outfit that fully covered her hair, arms, and legs, Rihanna posed for several shots before being asked to leave along with her photographers. Nevertheless, ‘Riri’ revealed the pictures on her Instagram account, quickly attracting both approving and disapproving commentary.
“She was directed by visitor services to proceed to the visitors’ main gate and take the guided tour, according to procedure,” read a statement issued by the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. “She left without entering the mosque, after being asked to do so, due to the fact that she had taken some pictures that do not conform with the conditions and regulations put in place by the Center’s management, to regulate visits in a way that takes the status and sanctity of the mosque into consideration.”
Rihanna has remained silent on the matter and instead continues to reveal further pictures from her upcoming photobook on her Twitter.
