Racil Chalhoub translated memories of Miami South Beach sunsets to her Spring 2016 collection with contemporary flare. The emerging designer launched her brand, Racil, only last season, and here carries on with her aim to provide women with sophisticated tailored eveningwear options. The tuxedo remains the backbone of her work, and for Spring, she coated her trousers and jackets in sorbet hues—peach, cassis, grapefruit—though the star color is the more subdued eggshell blue. Pants are offered in a cigarette cut or otherwise ultra-flare, while the few dresses remain free of embellishments to allow the eye to focus on the seductive cut of a cross back. It will be interesting to see whether Chalhoub can maintain her panache in the coming seasons.
