To celebrate the highly anticipated 50th anniversary of Pirelli’s calendar, the iconic fashion photographers Peter Lindbergh and Patrick Demarchelier joined forces and set their lenses on fashion’s current top models and long-time muses.
Pirelli’s special half-century birthday calendar edition was partly shot in New York and features cream-of-the-crop supermodels, such as Miranda Kerr, Alek Wek, Alessandra Ambrosio, Isabeli Fontana, Helena Christensen, and Karolina Kurkova.
The famous beauties are spotted posing in a group at a beach, wearing sheer black swimwear and underwear. “I’m not interested in shooting nude. “The most horrible word in my vocabulary is ‘sexy'”, said Lindbergh, referring to his pictures for the Pirelli 2014 calendar, which are reminiscent of his subtle black-and-white portrait photography of supermodels back in 1996.
The images will not be released before November, but a video interview and a few pleasing shots have already leaked on Twitter and Vimeo.
