Peet Dullaert’s Ode to Legendary Women in Fashion

Peet Dullaert’s ongoing story Muses with Extraordinary Lives honors women who have influenced the fashion industry with their larger-than-life personalities. After featuring Zuleika Ponsen, Josephine Colsen, Rebecca Ayoko, and Linda Spierings in the first story released on February 14, 2013, the second story honors modeling legends Pat Cleveland, Kim Williams, and Sylvia Gobbel.

Pat Cleveland’s interview chronicles her foray into modeling, the way she brought drama and excitement to Parisian society, and life with Karl Lagerfeld in the ‘70s. ‘’When she moved, she painted the air around her with clothes,’’ Janice Dickinson has said about her.

Kim Williams, captured by photography heavyweights from Steven Meisel to Patrick Demarchelier in the ‘80s, speaks about being photographed by Irving Penn, and her working relationship with Steven Meisel. Her input during a photo shoot resulted in a Vogue Italia cover.

Sylvia Gobbel is a familiar face for fans of Guy Bourdin, Oliviero Toscani, and Peter Lindbergh. The Austrian model reminisces about being photographed by Helmut Newton for the first time, and talks about her experience of being featured in his famous “Big Nudes” series, as well as the liberating effect the images had on women in the ‘80s.
