After breaking the Internet with Kim Kardashian West, getting up close and personal with Kanye, and showcasing Miley Cyrus in the buff with her pet pig, Paper has a high standard to live up to for its covers. Its latest, one of two for the magazine’s September issue, stars Jennifer Lopez with Balmain’s Olivier Rousteing. No, the theme is not people with amazing cheekbones—although we’d easily read that article. For fall, the mag is tackling the issue of contemporary luxury.
“Luxury today is about perception—about the way we value handbags and human emotions with increasingly similar yardsticks. Whether it’s time, privacy, or serenity, we want more out of our day, our safety, our belief systems,” begins Paper’s chief creative officer, Drew Elliott. And while Lopez and Rousteing make ideal poster children for this concept in 2015, both straddling the line between high fashion and pop culture domination, the issue also promises other looks at what is luxe from a wide scope of personalities, including Jeremy Scott, Alexander Wang, Riccardo Tisci, Chelsea Manning, and Kathy Griffin.
While you’ll have to wait to read the full scope of Paper’s coverage of all that is luxe in its issue, you can get a peek of its cover stars here.
