Marsala, an earthy wine red—aka Pantone 18-1438—is the 2015 hue of the year, says the global authority on color. While last year’s Pantone 18-3224 Radiant Orchid (a shade of purple) is said to “encourage creativity and innovation,” according to executive director of the Pantone Color Institute Leatrice Eiseman, “Marsala enriches our mind, body, and soul, exuding confidence and stability.” Fittingly, Pantone is marking the occasion with something that doesn’t always exude confidence and stability: a wallet. A line of Marsala-hued accessories, including three sizes of wallet, are available now from Hobo. Pantone has also styled the shade into a fashionable (and suggestive) editorial featuring a decadent ménage à trois of food and interior decoration.
