Founded by designer Orchid Ganji in 2010, Orkalia is a Dubai-based label known for creating made-to-measure bridal gowns and eveningwear collections that incorporate a modern spin on couture while maintaining traditional craftsmanship. Though cutout bridal dresses and embellished crop tops might not sound like typical couture pieces, they are transformed into sophisticated creations following hours of workmanship and meticulous attention to detail.
The designer recently collaborated with Sheikha Maitha Al Maktoum on a biannual capsule collection. The Orkalia X Mia Maktoum 14-piece line of abayas and kaftans is the first partnerships between the creative director and the Emirati royal and marks her debut in fashion design.
The collection features rich materials, such as velvet and lamé satin, on abayas and draped kaftans in a soft color palette of pink, violet, and gray. Key details such as beadwork and embroidery add an extra hint of sparkle and elegance across the line. The capsule’s launch (today) coincides with Ramadan and in the spirit of the holy month, each purchase from the collection will provide five iftar meals to those in need over the next two weeks.
Shop the Orkalia X Mia Maktoum collection on www.orkalia.com or preview the pieces on July 5th at Em Sherif, Downtown Dubai from 9pm to 2am.
