Olivier’s theory…

During Seoul fashion week last November, Olivier Theyskens sat down with Dezeen Magazine to discuss the lessons he’s learned from a career that has spanned both high and mid-market fashion. Theyskens admitted he thinks the fashion industry is “saturated” with new designers, explaining that “every fashion week, you have 10 or 12 new names. I think it’s scary.” Theyskens also discussed the difficulties young designers face in the Internet age, saying, “Professionals in fashion are overwhelmed with the images and websites. It’s very tough to get their attention.” [Dezeen Magazine]

Katy’s postshow celebration…

Following the success of her halftime performance, Katy Perry celebrated by getting a commemorative tattoo. The pop singer took to Instagram to share a photo of her new ink—the Roman numerals XLIX—with the caption, “I thought it would be appropriate to draw blood tonight…XLIX.” [Popsugar]

A new athleisure collaboration…

Derek Lam and Athleta are teaming up to creating a 10-piece lifestyle collection, due to debut in September 2015. This partnership will be a first for the activewear brand, which has never entered into collaborative territory—however, designer Lam believes the two will make a perfect pair. “Athleta’s expertise in performance fabrics and fibers has offered us a really exciting opportunity to create a collection which complements perfectly what we do for Derek Lam 10 Crosby,” he said. The power of celebrity…

Olivier Rousteing is no stranger to the wonderful world of celebrity, counting the Kardashians and Rihanna among his close friends. In a recent interview with the Telegraph, he said, “Celebrity is more important today than it used to be. It gives access to so many different people. For me it’s the new high-street window.” [Telegraph]

Iris and Karlie…

In what might be the most unexpected pairing of the season, Karlie Kloss and Iris Apfel have been tapped as the stars of the new Kate Spade Spring/Summer 2015 campaign. This marks the second campaign appearance this year for 93-year-old Apfel, who is also featured in Alexis Bittar’s campaign alongside Tavi Gevinson. [Bustle]
