Saudi designer Nora Al Shaikh is continuing to make a name for herself after receiving the Leaders Inspiring a Kingdom award in 2014 (Forbes Middle East) in recognition of her ability to “initiate change and contribute to the Saudi Arabia of tomorrow.” The graduate of Riyadh’s Arts & Skills Institute designs clothes with graphic lines and rich color combinations but is inspired by life beyond the cloth. She has a global approach, and her interactions with women from various cultural backgrounds, who adopt her designs in their own unique way, fuel her creative fire. Travel is a constant source of inspiration and her time exploring the islands of Bora Bora in French Polynesia during her recent honeymoon is the pulse of this trans-Seasonal 2015 collection. The Technicolor landscape and sun-bleached local architecture reverberate in Al Shaikh’s graphic shapes, crafted into airy dresses, palazzo pants, and origami pleats—a note to women around the world that even while kicking back on an island holiday, a sophisticated look is always fresh.
