Noon by Noor

Each season, the Noon by Noor designers build on their trend-driven collections and fittingly, perennial It girls Alexa Chung and Leigh Lezark were sitting front row. The Bahraini label, built by cousins Sheikha Haya and Sheikha Noor Al Khalifa, has grown to become a regional favorite and each season, the brand inches closer to becoming a familiar name in industry circles across the pond.

For their Noon by Noor Spring 2016 Ready-to-Wear offering, the Bahraini cousins surprisingly turned down their signature embellishments and prints (a bird and tropics pattern in muted black and white, for the most part) and focused on cuts—particularly a loose and breezy silhouette—and fabrics. Duchess satin, gold jacquard, organza, brocade, and metallic foils served as the light cloth on which a palette of aqua and electric blues, lilac, golds, and coppers were painted.

The skinny-strapped overalls with minimal sequined embellishments harked to the schoolgirl days of yesteryear (a theme accented with the preppy “N” varsity jacket finale), while a floor-length salmon pink column dress was served with two sporty strips of sequined stripes featuring a row of flowers. But the takeaway looks we’ll be cheering for come spring will be the lilac bubble fabric dresses and the gold metallic looks with sheer overlays.
