Making it official…

This morning Yoox and Net-a-Porter confirmed their plans to merge and become the “independent leading online luxury fashion retailer worldwide,” according to a release. The two retailers had a combined net revenue of €1.3 billion in 2014 and hope that the merger will increase efficiencies, create a more diversified business portfolio, and provide customers with a fully fleshed-out retail experience. Versace, Versace, Versace…

Versace is making headlines today, thanks to a T-shirt that has been released as part of its Spring 2015 collection. The graphic black-and-white tee bears a striking resemblance to a shirt produced by American Apparel in 2013 as part of a capsule collection by L.A.-based artist Kesh. The artist spoke out about her disappointment, explaining that it is “artwork from a show that took me two years to develop and create.” [The Cut]

Mad about Minnie…

Georgia May Jagger has a new project in the works. The model is curating a photographic exhibition that will explore the style evolution of Disney’s Minnie Mouse. Jagger has been a fan of the cartoon character for quite some time, saying, “I’ve always been obsessed with everything Disney and Minnie Mouse. This is my third Minnie Mouse project.” Jagger is also collaborating with Ashley Williams on a collection inspired by Minnie, which will include a clutch, hat, and skirt. [Harper’s Bazaar U.K.]

Creatures of Chicago…

Creatures of the Wind designers Shane Gabier and Christopher Peters describe themselves as “just two people working out of [their] basement in Chicago”—although the pair has come a long way since then, including being named runners-up for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund. In a new profile, the duo discusses their brand evolution, explaining that they want each of their collections “to be very emotionally strong, but with different iterations every time.” [i-D]

Reduce, reuse, recycle…

H&M and Kering are experimenting with new technology in recycling. The companies plan to test a new technology that “separates and extracts polyester and cotton from used garments in order to create new textiles.” If it works, it will enable the fashion industry to reduce its dependency on polyester.
