Those who were eager to see the first cover-girl of Porter, Net-A-Porter’s new print magazine, will be pleased to see that Brazilian top model Gisele Bündchen is gracing the cover.
“Thank you Porter Magazine and Natalie Massenet for having me be part of this special project celebrating women. Shot by my sweet friends Inez and Vinoodh [sic],’’ Bundchen tweeted shortly after the cover was released.
For this occasion, Net-A-Porter founder Natalie Massenet will host an event entitled Fashion In Conversation, at the Apple Store in SoHo in New York on February 7th, together with the magazine’s Editor-in-Chief, Lucy Yeomans. Yeomans was formerly the Editor of Harper’s Bazaar UK.
“May Porter inspire and celebrate amazing women for years to come,” Massenet wrote on her Instagram yesterday, referring to the topic of Porter’s first issue, ‘A Celebration of Incredible Women.’ Yeomans, on her side, shared a preview of the magazine’s gatefold cover on her Twitter. The new print edition will be published six times a year (Spring, Summer, Summer Escape, Fall, Winter, Winter Escape), and will include fashion editorials with products that are available on Net-A-Porter’s e-commerce website, and feature exclusive interviews of celebrities and industry professionals, such as Lanvin’s Alber Elbaz and actresses Uma Thurman and Julianne Moore.
Furthermore, to celebrate the launch of its new publication, Net-A-Porter launched the ‘I am Porter’ iPhone app, which allows users to upload their own existing pictures and portraits in a cover template with the print magazine’s masthead, to transform themselves into a ‘Porter cover star.’
The magazine is set to hit the newsstands tomorrow. In parallel to its print edition, Net-A-Porter publishes The Edit, a weekly online magazine.
