MM6 Maison Margiela

Appointed as the creative director of Maison Margiela’s diffusion line in 2014, John Galliano takes the MM6 Maison Margiela Spring 2016 ready-to-wear offering on an eccentric rollercoaster ride. The collection, which draws inspiration from the young crowd at underground clubs, offered fanny packs repurposed as tops, glitter gloves, and airbrush motifs.

Founder: Martin Margiela

Owner: OTB

Designer: John Galliano, 2014

Year Established: 1988

Spring 2016 Inspiration: East London’s techno club kids.

Star Pieces: A light blue, ruffled strapless top with glitter embellishments across the bust line; and a pale blue, pussy bow, buttoned-down, midi dress.

The Middle Eastern Sale: Looking past the plastic bags and glittery thigh-high hosiery, there are pieces that stand out, such as the buttoned-down dresses and stylish duster coats.

Drawbacks: Heavy on the artsy theme with little variety of wearable pieces.
