Mira Mikati and Tommy Ton for Façonnable

Ç x Façonnable, 1, Tommy Ton

Take an authentic fashion brand from the French Riviera, Style.com‘s street style photographer extraordinaire, and Beirut’s Plum boutique owner, and you’ll get a style-conscious, yet unpretentious womenswear collection of photos with an urban touch.

For its Fall 2013 season, ready-to-wear brand, Façonnable, teamed up with Mira Mikati for a capsule collection entitled ‘Ç x Façonnable’. Mikati is the co-owner of Plum, a concept store in Beirut. She previously designed her own collection, Mira by Mira Mikati (designs which she refers to as “art-a-porter”), which is sold on Net-a-Porter. She describes her new capsule as a collection that mingles menswear codes with feminine chic. “It’s like if you were wearing your summer clothes in winter,” she said. “It is like being on holidays 365 days a year.”

Guided by the brand’s archived documents and samples, Mikati designed a capsule collection reminiscent of the past. “‘Ç’ stands for French heritage, but with an international feel,” added the designer. Thus, she reworked the brand’s basics by using unusual fabrics, such as bed linen, and paid attention to luxurious details: a blazer is adorned with silk buttons, while a duffle coat comes with an exclusive jacquard print. Casual knits are accompanied by printed silk pajamas, and evening outfits are accessorized with ties and scarves.

Tommy Ton breathed life into Mikati’s urban-chic collection, worn by French actress Rebecca Dayan, as he shot the capsule’s lookbook in his nonchalant, spontaneous way. “I want to be surrounded by people that I love,” commented Mikati, who is friends with both the photographer and the actress. “This is the way I see Façonnable today,” she concluded.
