It was a memorable night. Especially for Cate Blanchett (Best Actress, Blue Jasmine) and Jennifer Lawrence (Best Supporting Actress, American Hustle) who were awarded at the 71st Golden Globe Awards, held last night at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, California.
And some of the fashion spotted on the red carpet was equally memorable—Middle Eastern couture, included.
Black and white, floor-skimming evening gowns were a trend at this year’s red carpet arrivals—Jennifer Lawrence, who sported a strapless Christian Dior ball gown, helped to set the tone. Girls actress, Zosia Mamet, also jumped on the trend, choosing a black accented, floral embroidered Reem Acra gown from the Fall 2013 collection.
The Lebanese Reem Acra was also the first choice of Robin Wright, reputed for her performance in the U.S. TV series, House of Cards. Wright wore an iridescent, sleek nude dress by Acra, paired with stud earrings by Dana Rebecca Designs and a chunky chocolate brown and golden clutch.
Kate Beckinsale also chose a iridescent gown, with a more figure-hugging silhouette. The star arrived in a silver colored, embroidered mermaid gown by Zuhair Murad and jewelry by Chopard. The American Horror Story star, Lily Rabe, also opted for an iridescent touch, with a sheer and richly embroidered Georges Hobeika ball gown.
Both Taissa Farmiga (American Horror Story) and Elisabeth Moss (Mad Men) opted for more nonchalant looking cocktail designer dresses. Farmiga chose a youthful, strass-embroidered lace dress from Elie Saab’s Spring 2014 collection, while Moss added a boyish note to the red carpet, sporting a black cropped jumpsuit by Georges Hobeika.
Finally, some starlets left the black, white, and nude trends behind, and opted for more vibrant colors. Modern Family actress, Sarah Hyland, chose a flamingo-pink colored Georges Hobeika chiffon dress from the designer’s Fall 2013 Couture collection, while newly-wed actress Kaley Cuoco (Big Bang Theory) opted for a voluminous, strapless bustier gown by Rani Zakhem, adorned with an abstract flower pattern.
