Tomorrow, you too will have access to the Oscars of the fashion industry: the Met Gala. This year’s event, entitled, “Punk: Chaos to Couture” red carpet will stream live on www.metmuseum.org/metgala. Co-hosts, model @HilaryRhoda (replacing last year’s Elettra Wiedemann) and Vogue’s @WilliamNorwich, promise interviews with Rooney Mara, Riccardo Tisci, and Anna Wintour among others. Though the livestream will occur in the middle of the night, diehard fashion fans can stay up with Style.com/Arabia’s Editors who will also be live tweeting throughout the event on @StyleArabia starting at 2am KSA/3am UAE time.
After the show, If you are looking for a keepsake of the event, head to the Met’s online store and purchase the hardcover exhibition catalogue. 219 illustrations will take you through its 1970s origins and track the explosive influence on fashion ever since. The soul of punk is chaos, anarchy, and rebellion and the book documents how tears, slashes, studs, spikes, and even razor blades have been embraced by haute couture in an attempt to capture punk’s ethos.
