Madiyah Al Sharqi Launches at Fivestory New York

Motioning a further step towards taking her label to the international arena, the Fujairah-based designer Madiyah Al Sharqi launched her eponymous ready-to-wear label at the upscale multi-brand boutique Fivestory New York.

At an event hosted by Indre Rockerfeller, stylist Anya Ziourova, Fivestory owner Claire Distenfeld, and LuxCartel CEO Natalya Poniatowski, the evening unfolded as guests mingled over the sounds of the classical oud guitar and sipped on Arabic tea while browsing the exclusive collection created in collaboration with Fivestory specifically for the launch. Guests in attendance, including stylist and interior designer Marcus Paul and New York-based blogger Leandra Medine (AKA Man Repeller), also had the opportunity to preview the Emirati designer’s spring 2016 collection, which she will officially debut during New York Fashion Week in September.

Following the reception, friends of Al Sharqi and the hosts, wound down the evening with Emirati cuisine at an intimate outdoor setting at the home of interior designer Juan Pablo and Pilar Molyneux; Juan Pablo, the celebrated maximalist Chilean designer, is responsible for the interior design of Sheikh Mohamed bin Suhaim Al-Thani’s 40,000 square foot Qatari palace.
