London calling…

Following the success of the London Collections: Men, the British Fashion Council announced it will be adding another round of presentations to London’s fashion calendar: the London Pre-Collections. Scheduled between June 15 and 17, this event will take place directly after the men’s collections and will include Resort presentations by Burberry, Roland Mouret, Anya Hindmarch, and Peter Pilotto. Public Peoples…

Public School and Oliver Peoples have joined forces to create an eyewear collaboration of vintage-inspired sunglasses. The glasses, which feature a sleek and modern aesthetic, will be available in three different styles and retail at Oliver Peoples stores worldwide. [Complex]

Rei’s protégés…

As far as fashion is concerned, very few mentors have produced as many talented protégés as Rei Kawakubo has. The Comme des Garçons designer has fostered many young creatives who have gone on to become successful designers in their own right. Chitose Abe of Sacai and Junichi Abe of Kolor both started as patternmakers and went on to launch their own lines, while Junya Watanabe, Tao Kurihara, Fumito Ganryu, and Kei Ninomiya have all been given their own lines within the Comme des Garçons family. Mia Goth’s baby face causes trouble for Miu Miu…

An image from Miu Miu’s Spring 2015 campaign has been banned by the Advertising Standards Authority in the United Kingdom for being “irresponsible.” The ASA claims that as the model Mia Goth “was wearing very minimal makeup and clothes that appeared to be slightly too large,” the ad presents “a child in a sexualized way.” Perhaps they are unaware that Goth is actually 22. Life like Reese…

From Kanye West to Victoria Beckham, celebrity fashion lines have become somewhat of a common occurrence among the A-list crowd. The latest celebrity to try her hand at designing is Reese Witherspoon, who just launched a lifestyle brand, Draper James. The Southern-inspired collection is “unapologetically pretty,” explained Witherspoon at the brand launch yesterday. “In the South, there’s a lot of color, prints, tradition, traditional fabrics like gingham, plaids, stripes. There’s also definitely a feeling that what you wear makes you feel better, especially if you’re wearing color, prints, or joyful things,” she said. [WWD]
