Fresh off the heels of a sandals collection for men, Saudi brand, Lomar, has just announced the launch of its first womenswear line of abayas. As Style.com/Arabia previously reported, the brand renowned for its traditional thobes has been developing its womenswear line for some time now.
A creative collaboration between Mona Haddad, the Director of Design, and Christophe Abdulmosawwer Beaufays, the Associate Art Director and Senior Designer, the abayas are given a contemporary look with edgy details and a modern cut. “The idea behind this collection is to offer abayas featuring the type of cuts and fabrics that you cannot already find in the market,” noted Beaufays when speaking to Style.com/Arabia about the line. “Modernity and elegance are the two key elements we were striving for.”
An important part of Lomar’s international expansion plan, the line of abayas allows the brand to sell outside of KSA due to its ease of accessibility and high demand, as compared to the more specific market for men’s thobes. The brand is also developing an international accessories line for men and women, along with launching a fashion talent competition for emerging designers.
