Avant-garde fashion designs have often been referred to as “art pieces” and now there is an entire “wearable art” gallery and boutique dedicated to curating edgy and arty clothing and accessories.
Located in Al Quoz cultural district in Dubai, and officially launched yesterday, cARTel is conceptualized by Peter Richweisz, a veteran photographer and filmmaker; and is under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Hazza’ Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, a member of the UAE Royal Family and avid artist and supporter of the arts and culture.
Shub Qureshi, Co-Founder of the cARTel commented, “The UAE is internationally recognized as one of the top consumer markets in the world, particularly when it comes to fashion. The cARTel will bring to the UAE cutting edge designers from around the world.”
The boutique is the first of its kind in the UAE and is currently home to over 30 international artists and fashion designers. The launch of cARTel acts as further evidence that people who call the Gulf region home are curious about opening their closets to abstract designs and are becoming increasingly audacious in their fashion choices.
