Iconic Lebanese singer Fairuz turned 80 today, one day before Lebanon’s 72nd Independence Day. The soulful crooner is one of the Arab world’s most beloved and respected singers, and has used her smooth vocals to call for peace in the war-torn regions of Lebanon and Palestine.
Fans from all over the region took to social media apps, including Instagram and Twitter, to pay homage to the “jewel of Lebanon” on her special day, and praising her ability to unite generations of Arabs through her music.
