Lacoste Turns 80

Lacoste-1

Roland Garros, better known as the French Open, is well under way in the outskirts of Paris. Meanwhile, for a few days only, inside the French Tennis Federation museum, Lacoste marked its 80th birthday with a small exhibition of luxury interpretations of its crocodile logo with homages from nine French heritage houses. Hermès paid tribute with a tennis satchel in forest green—crocodile, of course; Fauchon cooked up some polo-striped éclairs; Goyard offered a spacious travel bag; but certainly the most personal piece was the sparkling crocodile broach by Boucheron, a commission from founder René Lacoste for his wife, Simone, dating back to 1957. For those coming to Paris during the month of June, the exhibit will be showcased in the windows of the concept store, Colette, from this coming Monday.
