As the official sponsor of the Dubai International Film Festival, IWC Schaffhausen  joined forces with the festival for the third year running to present a regional filmmaker with the IWC Filmmaker Award.

This year, the accolade went to Kuwaiti producer and director Abdullah Boushahri for his film, The Water. Boushahri was presented with a prize of US $100,000 (AED/KSA 367,000) and a special IWC watch by the guest of honor and brand ambassador, Emily Blunt.

Emirati filmmaker Saeed Salmeen Al-Murry’s Going to Heaven and Saudi Arabian filmmaker and actress Ahd Kamel’s Sandfish were the other two projects that were shortlisted for the award.
