From Balmain to Lanvin, to Givenchy and the CR Fashion Book party, this Paris Fashion Week, the Kardashian clan has been everywhere from the front row, to backstage, and the catwalk (courtesy of Kendall). But it turns out that members of the famous family are also making discreet visits to showrooms—notably to Fujairah-based designer, Madiyah Al Sharqi’s, whose eponymous line was showing for the fifth season, at the Georges V hotel this week.
On the phone with Style.com/Arabia from the hotel suite, Firras Alwahabi, Director of Dubai-based Faux Consultancy, which manages the Al Sharqi account, explained the moment when Kris Jenner knocked on the door.
Going through the collection, Kris Jenner was saying, “This is so Kim, this is so Khloé, this is so Kendall,” explained Alwahabi “And she then said, ‘Maybe we can get Kim in here,’” he concluded.
Last night, the Al Sharqi team was informed that Kim Kardashian was keen to stop by the showroom after Carine Roitfeld’s star-studded event. “Kim arrived shortly after midnight with her mom and bodyguard. She looked through the collection and stayed for 45 minutes and explained to us that she loves neutral tones and whites and that her style has become more simple. Both Kris and Kim explained that they have a very keen interest to visit the Middle East again soon. You could see that she was tired—she had just come from this big event, but she said, ‘No, no, I want to be here,’” explained Alwahabi.
“Kim was lovely,” added Madiyah Al Sharqi. “She was asking in-depth questions about the Middle Eastern market and consumer and appeared incredibly knowledgeable about the fashion process.”
Madiyah Al Sharqi will be showing her Spring 2015 collection at Fashion Forward on October 6th.
