Jezebel caught our attention last Sunday, saying that a source told the publication that Kim Kardashian is currently shooting her first cover for American Vogue in Los Angeles. But is it really true? Opinions differ widely on this topic.
While Jezebel reported that Kanye West and his bride-to-be are “in LA shooting RIGHT NOW,” several other sources, believe these rumors to be unfounded. An insider close to Kim Kardashian allegedly told Entertainmentwise.com that even if the Kimye couple is close to Anna Wintour—they both attended a dinner at the editor’s New York City apartment on the eve of the 2013 Met Gala—no cover shooting for American Vogue has been officially confirmed.
That said, the fact that Kardashian is even rumored to be the next cover girl of American Vogue, already shows the growing momentum the reality TV star has gained in the fashion industry recently. As Fashionista commented, Kardashian might or might not be Vogue material yet, although she has become a “style icon we never knew we wanted.” And with Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci, who dressed her for the 2013 Met Ball; Celine’s Phoebe Philo, who offered custom-made baby outfits for her newborn baby North; and even Azzedine Alaïa himself, who took the time to guide her through his exhibition at Paris’ Musée Galliera, Kim Kardashian seems to have gained the respect (or at least the attention) of some of the fashion industry’s key tastemakers.
Will Kim Kardashian eventually grace the front page of American Vogue? She already did the cover of Carine Roitfeld’s CR Fashion Book, after all.
