Kendall Jenner Gets the Drone Treatment, and More of Today’s News

Drone drawings…

Advancements in technology have changed the way people do many things, though we never thought we’d see the day tech changed the way folks vandalize. In an apparent world first, graffiti artist KATSU used a drone to paint red lines on a billboard of Calvin Klein’s latest ads featuring Kendall Jenner. A video of the drone was uploaded to YouTube today and has already gained over 200,000 views. [YouTube]

Thrift shop…

Think you can go three months without buying new clothes? Model Kyleigh Kuhn, the brains behind 87 Days of Vintage, is challenging us all to do just that. The #87daysofvintage initiative asks people to refrain from purchasing anything new and encourages them to buy thrift or vintage items instead. Kuhn’s reasoning behind the challenge is simple: “Mama Earth: She needs a break. She’s been giving and giving to bring all of our trendy fashion moments to fruition. But in the process, she’s suffered greatly.” [87 Days of Vintage]

All for eco-fashion…

As far as eco-fashion is concerned, Livia Firth, the wife of actor Colin Firth, is definitely at the forefront. Not only has she launched a green-carpet initiative, which aims to promote sustainability, ethics, and welfare on the red carpet, but she is also dedicated to wearing ethically designed items. At Monday’s Met Gala, Livia will wear an Antonio Berardi-designed gown made from yarn spun from recycled plastic bottles. [WWD]

An abstract take on fashion history…

Caroline de Maigret and Sonia Delaunay both epitomize free-spirited cool. In celebration of the current show The EY Exhibition: Sonia Delaunay at the Tate Modern, the museum appointed de Maigret to play the abstract artist in a quirky new short film, directed by Bertrand Le Pluard. The exhibit is on view until August 9. [i-D]

#Withoutshoes…

Toms wants you to go barefoot for a good cause. From May 5 to 21, for every image of bare feet uploaded to Instagram with the hashtag #withoutshoes, the company will donate a pair of shoes to a child in need. This initiative is part of the One Day Without Shoes campaign, which the footwear brand has been running for eight consecutive years.
