Karl and the kids…

Look out, world, Karl Lagerfeld is launching a children’s line. The collection is set to debut under his eponymous label in spring 2016 and will feature both clothing and accessories for newborns to 16-year-olds. Said Lagerfeld CEO Pier Paolo Righi, “The Karl Lagerfeld kidswear collection presents a unique opportunity to share our cool, iconic DNA with a wider audience.” Fingerless gloves for toddlers? We can only hope. [WWD]

Prada does the hustle…

American Hustle costume designer Michael Wilkinson is bringing the film’s ’70s sensibility to the Big Apple. Wilkinson and his business partner/exhibition designer husband, Tim Martin, were handpicked by Miuccia Prada to reinterpret her Spring 2015 collection for an installation at the Prada store in Soho. The display will include 24 unique designs and is set to open tomorrow night, coinciding with the beginning of NYFW. [Sydney Morning Herald]

Nostalgic Naomi…

Naomi Campbell has made plenty of memorable catwalk appearances, from charity shows to Victoria’s Secret. So what’s her favorite? Campbell admitted her top runway moment of all time was closing the Fall 1991 Versace show alongside her friends Christy Turlington Burns, Linda Evangelista, and Cindy Crawford. Of the experience, Campbell said, “We were friends, we supported each other, loved each other, and that moment was special.” [Huffington Post]

The perils of pre-collections…

Mary Katrantzou sat down with British Vogue to discuss the positives and pitfalls of designing a pre-collection. The designer, who launched her first pre-collection this year, said, “If you have a product that you can split into four seasons, then why not? But if you don’t have the team or the resources, then no. It has to be strong.” She also noted that the benefit of a pre-collection is that designers “can do a concise offering from what [they] have.” [British Vogue]
