Kanye on Kanye…
Kim Kardashian West helped Paper magazine #breaktheinternet last year, and this month the publication enlisted the help of her husband, Kanye West, in an attempt to do the same. Mr. West is not only Paper’s April cover star, but he also penned an article for the mag. Among other things, West discusses his passion for the fashion world, noting that “fashion is something that’s in my heart to do—in my spirit.” He explained that his love for fashion began when he was working at the Gap at age 15, “I don’t think I had any desire to actually make clothes, but I always felt like that’s what I wanted to be around. I loved the fabrics, I loved the colors, I loved the proportions.” [Paper]
Tom talks Gucci…

Ford also revealed that he consciously ignored the clause in his contract, which stated he wasn’t allowed to take a post-show bow, explaining, “I thought, You know what? I’m going to do what I think is right. I’m going to step on the runway.” [The Cut]
Maiyet’s (not-so) new hire…
Declan Kearney, the former design director at Alexander Wang, has been named creative director of artisanal luxury brand Maiyet. The brand actually hired Kearney in December, but decided to keep it a secret for several months. “I wanted to get my head around the brand,” Kearney explained, adding that he aims to create a “fusion between the mechanical and modern and the artisanal.” [The New York Times]
The rise of No-chella…
For years Coachella has been known as a fashionable music festival. Though the invite-only pool-parties to celebrity-filled soirees have become such a spectacle, they seem to have taken over the festival itself. This year, in a new phenomenon dubbed “No-chella,” people decided to skip the festival altogether, and bounce from party to party instead. [The Atlantic]
