Mark your calendars, on November 8th, Iris van Herpen will launch a solo exhibition at the cARTel, a concept store in Dubai dedicated to independent fashion brands and emerging designers.
The Dutch haute couture and ready-to-wear designer made headlines this year when she won the prestigious 2014 ANDAM award, supported by Kering’s CEO, François-Henri Pinault, and for presenting her first ready-to-wear runway show during Paris Fashion Week.
“We are proud to announce that we are the first and only store in the MENA region to launch van Herpen’s ready-to-wear collection,” May Barber, the cARTel’s Managing Director, told Style.com/Arabia. In addition, the cARTel will present eight haute couture pieces from van Herpen’s “Voltage” and “Wilderness” collections, which will highlight the designer’s take on couture as wearable art, as well as her technical and sculptural approach to fashion design.
Following a media brunch and a VIP preview event hosted by van Herpen this evening, the exhibition will be open to the public from November 8th to 12th, just in time for Dubai’s Art Night, an evening dedicated to exhibition openings and artistic events across town, as well as this weekend’s four-day Abu Dhabi Art fair.
