We’re getting our head around a new Qatari label: HZ by Hissa Zainal, just launched a “prologue” collection—and the vibe is “Wednesday Addams meets color.” There is something positively endearing about these citrus-colored clothes with their ultra-defined hems and surprising cuts. Indeed apart from the striking pops of color (lemon standalone collars, and turquoise and dusty pink strips) it is the hems that are the main affair. Concave and convex hems wind about to outline capes and bodices, and at times appear exaggerated reminding of an upside down road bump on a skirt. Make no mistake though—everything about the cut of these clothes comes across as calculated to the tenth degree—just like Miss Wednesday would want.
