HRH Queen Rania alongside his Majesty King Abdullah of Jordan welcomed Germany’s President Joachim Gauck and First Lady Daniela Schadt to Amman on Monday wearing a statement coat by Style.com/Arabia — DDFC Fashion Prize finalist Nafsika Skourti. The two-tone gray coat, worn by the elegant Queen, is from the Jordanian designer’s debut Spring 2015 collection and features her signature zigzag embroidery.

“She saw our work and was immediately drawn to the coat,” Skourti told Style.com/Arabia. “I love how she made it her own.” Queen Rania perfected her polished look by wearing the statement coat with a silver metallic belt, a blush pink shirt, and what looks like an A-line skirt. She topped off her outfit with fresh makeup and a sophisticated ponytail.

Skourti, a Central Saint Martins graduate, held her first runway show during Fashion Forward Season 6, and showcased her Fall 2016 collection. Drawing inspiration from current political conflicts, the lineup featured camouflage prints and embroidered Arabic and English words, such as “Temporary Security” and “The Hope.”

Her follow-up capsule collection for the Fashion Prize, which also included a cohesive piece for the Cadillac Design Challenge, was presented to a jury panel that included Lebanese designers Zuhair Murad and Reem Acra. The six-look collection featured clean tailoring and elevated sportswear separates in the form of a high-slit skirt, an asymmetrical striped strapless dress, and a graphic sweatshirt with her signature zigzag embroidery alongside mesh paneling.
