Halston Heritage’s First UAE Boutique

Halston Heritage, Kuwait

Ben Malka, Chief Executive of Halston Heritage, announced that the American luxury womenswear label will open its first UAE flagship store in the Mall of the Emirates in January 2014 with Majid Al Futtaim Ventures.

“I believe that the emerging markets, in particular, have a thirst for heritage brands. So, maybe for Halston, it’s easier today than it would have been in Roy Halston’s day,” explained Malka in a conversation with The National.

The American heritage brand just opened its first store in Kuwait, shortly after announcing a financial investment of USD$20 million, which will contribute to the brand’s expansion worldwide, including the launch of further standalone stores across the Middle East. “We might have to put more [money] in, who knows? We’re still building, and with something that is going global this fast, it takes a lot of money. Twenty million is a small number, although it sounds like a lot,” Malka added.

Halston Heritage’s style, synonymous with the ‘70s disco and Studio 54 era, once attracted the likes of celebrities and industry professionals such as Elizabeth Taylor, Bianca Jagger, Jackie Kennedy, and more recently Sarah Jessica Parker and Rachel Zoe. According to Malka, the brand is currently seeking new ambassadors for the Middle East.
