For the past few months, rumors have been swirling that Frida Giannini was about to be replaced in her post as creative director at Gucci , with Riccardo Tisci often touted as her potential successor. Now, Giannini has addressed the talk in an interview with WWD. “These rumors are self-generated, and even engaged François-Henri Pinault, who came to Rome and told me they were not true,” she said. “Actually, he was concerned that the rumors would not let me work serenely.” In fact, Giannini notes, she has just renewed her contract with the storied Italian house and is busy preparing to celebrate her tenth year at its helm in 2015.
