Vogue US Creative Director, Grace Coddington, and further leading business women representing Great Britain’s high-profile ladies have been invited by Marks & Spencer to strike a pose for the high-street retailer’s new campaign.
The picture series, shot by Annie Leibovitz for M&S’ new Fall 2013 collection feature Britain’s leading personalities and include Coddington’s favored supermodel, Karen Elson; musicians, Ellie Goulding and Laura Mvula; and Oscar-winning actress, Helen Mirren; as well as local celebrities, such as former ballerina, Darcey Bussell, and London Olympic gold medalist boxer, Nicola Adams..
“We feel that this campaign is the ideal way to illustrate M&S’ move into a new era,” said Patrick Bousquet-Chavanne, M&S’ executive director of marketing and business development, referring to the more sophisticated and fashionable looks of the new collection. Key items include revealing outerwear with maxi-Tartans and eye-popping animal prints.
Britain’s largest clothing retailer hopes to satisfy its core customers while attracting younger shoppers—a necessary initiative, considering its need to reverse eight straight quarters of declining underlying sales. The “Meet Britain’s Leading Ladies” campaign will show from September onwards, when the new Fall/Winter fashion range will hit the stores.
