Today, Jil Sander (the company) announced that Jil Sander (the designer) has left the brand for the third time, citing “personal reasons” as the cause of her departure.
Following her most recent return to the brand, following Raf Simon’s departure for Dior in February 2012, the German designer told the New York Times, “Now I have more skills and more experience and we’re in a different moment.” Her latest and last ready-to-wear collection was presented during the Spring/Summer 2014 season, in Milan.
“On behalf of the group, I want to thank Jil Sander for her remarkable contribution to the brand over this period. Her outstanding design and creative leadership have been crucial in reinforcing the brand and positioning it to foster further prosperous growth,” said Alessandro Cremonesi, Jil Sander’s Chief Executive.
A replacement for Sander has not been officially announced; thus, the upcoming Fall/Winter 2014 collection will be designed by the brand’s in-house team.
