By now you’re probably aware that H&M, part of the Scandinavian group, Hennes & Mauritz, which comprises brands H&M, COS, Monki, Weekday, Cheap Monday, and & Other Stories, has launched its much anticipated e-commerce site August 1. However, if you subscribe to the group’s news feed you will also learn that other than owning one of the globe’s leading high-street giants, the group is also one of the first to reach deep into its pockets to share its wealth. When floods devastated Northern India in June, H&M Group donated USD$100,000 in July to support Save the Children India’s relief efforts financing hygiene kits, water purification tablets, food baskets, and warm blankets to 5,000 families in ten of the worst-affected villages. Next time you are shopping online on the sites of some of your favorite high-street brands, remember that this one also takes a portion of its profits to help those in need.
