With Romeo Beckham taking over the Burberry Spring 2013 billboards; Cindy Crawford’s daughter, Kaia, modeling for the young Versace line; and anxious parents lining up to dress their children in fine designer goods for what seems like an eternity now, it may come as a surprise that the very first Global Kids Fashion Week (GKFW) will only now debut in London.
An initiative by AlexandAlexa.com, an online global destination for children, the line-up of brands confirmed to be showcased on the runway will include Paul Smith Junior, Chloé, Junior Gaultier, Oscar de la Renta, Little Marc Jacobs, Suzanne Ermann, and Supertrash. Premium casual brands Tommy Hilfiger, Diesel, R’Belle, and Wildfox will also be present, along with emerging and independent labels, Rachel Riley and Munster Kids.
AlexandAlexa.com Co-Founder, Alex Theophanous, states, “Kids’ fashion is playful, fun, and innovative—we all believe it deserves its own dedicated platform. This is why we are so proud to be supporting the very first Global Kids Fashion Week. With this event, we aim to put children’s fashion on the map worldwide.”
Following a private press showing on Tuesday, March 19th, the GKFW will show to the public on Wednesday. For those of you in London this week, tickets can be purchased through Ticketmaster with all proceeds going to the children foundation, Kids Company. Otherwise, stay tuned for Style.com/Arabia’s live coverage of the Global Kids Fashion Week which promises to be a “fun finale” to the Fashion Month season.
