Gigi Hadid was assaulted following the Max Mara Spring 2017 show during Milan Fashion Week. While leaving the venue with her sister Bella Hadid, she was grabbed from behind by Ukrainian Internet prankster Vitalii Sediuk. Caught on a shocking video, Hadid’s expression was washed with fear as she struggled to defend herself from the attacker who lifted her off the ground. She gripped her sister’s hand who immediately reacted to the situation. Vitalii eventually let the Palestinian model go and despite the frightening incident, Gigi Hadid was unharmed.
Responding to the incident on Twitter, Hadid wrote, “I’m a human being and had every right to defend myself.”
Notorious for trespassing award ceremonies and targeting celebrities, Vitalii previously ambushed Prabal Gurung’s Fall 2014 show during New York Fashion Week by streaking on the runway. On another occasion, he rushed to the stage during the 2013 Grammy Awards while Adele was receiving her award.
