This month, Seafarer, the brainchild and original design of Italian immigrant and former navy sailor, Tony Anzalone, and the brand made famous for dressing American Navy sailors in bellbottoms is set to be re-launched. The wide-legged garment became the official U.S. enlisted sailor’s uniform for almost 100 years. Many major fashion houses were influenced by this style and the pant had its heyday during the sixties and seventies, becoming a closet staple worn by the likes of Brigitte Bardot, Jane Birkin, Isabelle Adjani, and Raquel Welch. Commissioned to promote the historical brand’s re-launch is French blogger, Garance Doré, who is directing and appearing in a series of three videos. The first is urban and with a strong seventies vibe, playfully highlighted by Doré’s outstanding afro. The womenswear collection will be unveiled during Haute Couture week in Paris at the Colette boutique on January 22.
