Shop It Right Now: Kanye, Rihanna, and Sir Paul’s Throwback Denim Cover

The big story of the weekend, other than the sleepy SAG Awards, was the release of “FourFiveSeconds,” a new single from Rihanna, Kanye West, and Paul McCartney. If the mere thought of such a star-studded collaboration or the acoustic track’s catchy melodies don’t do it for you, the single art certainly will. Featuring Sir Paul, RiRi, and Yeezy in denim jackets against a white background, the image taps into the early ’90s nostalgia that is on the upswing. In their coordinating denim, the trio harks back to the first ads for CK One featuring Kate Moss and co. in the label’s artfully distressed denim. (Calvin Klein, for its part, is working on revamping its underwear business by tapping into its other iconic ’90s campaign.)

The choice to appear in similar denim jackets might not seem that groundbreaking, but we’re talking about “Ye, Ri,” and…McCartney. The simple denim statement is not only a departure from the over-Photoshopped, hypersexualized styling that has become the norm in music, but it’s also a fashion departure for each of the three musicians. (Sir Paul favors a suit; Kanye, highbrow streetwear; and Rihanna, all things glitzy, sheer, and scandalous.) The message is clear: Denim, like music, unites us all. Join the gang with five must-have denim jackets in the slideshow.
