First Look: Dubai’s Re-Invented Saint Laurent Store Embodies Hedi Slimane’s Ethos

While the industry muses whether Hedi Slimane’s upcoming Saint Laurent Fall 2016 ready-to-wear L.A. fashion show will be his last, the Dubai-based Mall of the Emirates’ reopened Saint Laurent bricks and mortar store is here to stay. The 242 square foot space that showcases women’s and men’s ready-to-wear and accessories attributes its design to the creative director and features black polished and white matte marble finishings, mirror shelves, and a nickel-plated brass bench with quilted leather seat for a moment of repos when not checking out angles of one’s head-to-toe Saint Laurent look in any one of the multitude of mirrors in the streamlined store. Saint Laurent reflects that the simplified style is a contemporary translation of Art Deco style. Indeed, a visual rhythm appears to reverberate within the space—as clean vertical and horizontal lines are repeated to create an intensity that is at the very core of Hedi Slimane for Saint Laurent.
