After inviting international designers such as Marios Schwab, Bernard Delettrez, and Bruno Pieters to participate in last year’s edition of Fashion Week Tunis, the 2014 edition will also feature two notable designers: Tunisian womenswear designer Max Azria and ANDAM 2013 laureate, Christine Phung.
“I am really attached to Tunisia and so happy to come back to my original country,” Azria told Style.com/Arabia. “This year is the 25th anniversary of the iconic fashion brand BCBGMAXAZRIA and the perfect time to come back to my country of heart with my family,” he continued, noting that his runway show is scheduled for May 31st.
On her side, Phung will present a photographic exhibition of her Spring 2014 collection, “Liquid Dilusion,” instead of her usual runway shows and presentation. In a conversation with Style.com/Arabia, she noted: “I am delighted to participate in Fashion Week Tunis because Tunis seems to have a very rich history and culture, which I am eager to discover. The city is at the crossroads of various civilizations: Mediterranean Europe, Africa, and the Arab world.”
Other designers scheduled to showcase their collections include Seyf Dean Laouiti, Kuwait-based designer Haythem Bouhamed, Mouna Ben Braham Chérif, and the young designer duo from Mademoiselle Hecy, among others.
The 6th edition of Fashion Week Tunis will be held at the Carthage Museum from May 29th to 31st.
