Less than two years after having co-founded luxury e-tailer, Moda Operandi, CEO Aslaug Magnúsdóttir has flown the coop.
The reasons for the departure are as yet unclear, although The New York Post insinuated a possible rift between Magnúsdóttir and her co-founder, Lauren Santo Domingo, an American Vogue Contributing Editor. Thus far, Magnúsdóttir, a Harvard grad and former McKinsey consultant, has declined to comment.
In the interim, many of Moda Operandi’s investors, which include Condé Nast and LVMH and who have collectively poured USD 36 million into the business, will be wondering who will take over the e-tailer’s day-to-day operations. Certainly, its direct competitor, Net-A-Porter.com, will also be curious to see who will lead the company. Many will be keen to see where Magnúsdóttir lands next.
