The media platform, Fashion 4 Development (F4D), will host its First Ladies Official Annual Luncheon on September 23rd in New York to coincide with the 69th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
To be attended by dignitaries including heads of state and first ladies, the private event will be hosted by President and Founder of F4D, Evie Evangelou; Editor-in-Chief of Vogue Italia and goodwill ambassador for F4D, Franca Sozzani; and the president of Advanced Development for Africa, Coumba Toure.
Tunisian designer, Ali Karoui, who debuted his Fall 2014 Couture collection during Altaroma in July, will showcase his creations during a runway show organized at the lunch, in the presence of Honored Guest and the UN’s Secretary-General’s spouse, Mrs. Ban Soon-taek. Other prominent honorees will include designer, Donna Karan; Co-President of Chopard, Caroline Scheufele; Editor-in-Chief of The Daily Beast, Tina Brown; and Founder of the Green Carpet Challenge, Livia Firth.
Launched in 2011, F4D is on a mission to join forces with the prevailing fashion and beauty industries to instigate creative strategies focusing on economic growth, health, and independence of communities worldwide. One of F4D’s global initiatives, now in development, will see a Dubai-based fashion school offer scholarships to African students.
Seeking to unite politicians, media, and the creative and business industries to develop sustainable change, F4D’s guiding principles are the 4Es—educate, empower, enhance, and enrich. Its tag line, “Giving Back is the New Luxury,” is being embraced by sociallyconscious parties all over the world.
