In a fashion climate where normcore and its associated idea of blending in are cool, it’s refreshing to find a few rule-breakers in the mix. To celebrate the true trailblazers among us, e-commerce site Farfetch is releasing a series of videos this month titled “Unfollow: For Fashion Lovers, Not Followers.” Each video in the brand campaign features a different fashion influencer who has continually marched to the beat of their own drum, refusing to conform to the crowd.
Shaun Ross fits the bill to be the series’ first star—he’s an albino African-American model and an Alvin Ailey dancer who has walked in shows from Givenchy to Alexander McQueen. “How about I just say and show you how different I am,” Ross says, “before you make this whole persona of what you think my different is.” In the following video, debuting exclusively here, Ross speaks candidly about his journey and shares a childhood anecdote. Watch it above.
