After a first book, Elie Saab, Memory of Fashion, released earlier this year by French journalist, Janie Samet, Elie Saab has announced a second book in collaboration with Samet, to be published by Assouline.
Samet’s first publication retraced Saab’s career, with a particular focus on the designer’s specialty of highlighting a woman’s silhouette and his star-studded clientele, which includes Aishwarya Rai and Queen Rania of Jordan. The second book will include more recent red-carpet moments and quotes from Saab, along with detailed close-ups of his work, which reveal a fusion of lush fabrics, delicate hand-embroideries, and other intricate details.
In each chapter, Samet — who is an award-winning journalist at Le Figaro — covers a different part of the evolution of the brand, from its beginning in war-torn Lebanon in the early 1980s, to the emergence of seasonal haute couture and ready-to-wear collections worldwide.
The book also features 200 archive images by photographer Laziz Hamani. It will hit bookshelves and the designer’s stores by mid-November.
