Since Endemage’s inception in 2010, Omani sisters Lubna and Nadia Al Zakwani have made it a point to incorporate their native heritage into their feminine ready-to-wear designs. For Fall 2016, the siblings once again turned to the natural landscape of Oman, referencing its rolling mountain range as a starting point, and though the sisters are known for their blend of textures and embellishments, they showcased a lighter hand this season.
On the runway, the designers debuted a collection that played on high-low silhouettes. They featured sarong style draping, billowy asymmetrical styles, and closed with embellished, evening-geared options in a predominantly navy and dove gray palette, warmed by burnt orange. This collection also included a number of bridal-inspired offerings, specifically the ivory gowns traced with sea foam beadwork. However, while the opening ombré culottes and the gray body-hugging shift were appealing, the daywear options that followed fell flat, and the eveningwear, such as the orange beaded gown, felt dated.
