According to the Indo-Asian News Service (IANS), Miss India 2014 will be held in Abu Dhabi on June 20th at the Al Raha Beach Hotel, in parallel to a Bollywood film festival and Indian culinary week. Prior to the Grand Finale, a “talent night” will be held on June 18th at the Hyatt Regency’s Crystal Ballroom in Dubai, where the beauty pageant’s participants will be introduced to the audience and jury.
The annual Miss India Worldwide pageant, produced by IFC, a New York-based non-profit organization, was established in 1980 and judges female contestants on their beauty and social aptitude. The competition features four rounds, comprising an evening gown runway, a traditional Indian dress presentation, a talent show, and on-stage interviews.
“More than 40 contestants of Indian origin settled in various countries across the globe between the age of 17 years and 27 years, unmarried and citizens, residents, or born in the country they represent, will participate in the Miss India Worldwide pageant,” said Anuj Saxena, Miss India Worldwide’s National Director for India.
And the Indian beauty pageant is seemingly not the only organization interested in hosting its pageant in Dubai. Earlier this month, billionaire Donald Trump announced that he is in talks to bring his international Miss Universe pageant to Dubai, noting that a total of 18 countries are presently bidding to host the competition.
