Watch the Making of a 200-Hour Dior Couture Dress

The Dior Couture show on Monday was “devastatingly sophisticated,” as Tim Blanks put it in his review. That much is obvious after clicking through the runway looks, atmosphere shots, backstage pics, and zoomed-in details. Among the most memorable looks in the collection were the impossibly light, flared-out dresses and skirts with ribbon stripes and razor-sharp pleats. Craftsmanship is the heart of couture, so Visionaire and Refinery29 visited the Dior atelier in Paris to see just how those pieces were made. The short story: It took several hands, an inventive pleating technique, lots of heat, and more than 200 hours. See the video, above, and head over to Refinery29 for the full story.
